  • adidas Originals by Wings + Horns collection

The adidas Originals by Wings + Horns collaboration collection will launch with us in-store and online this Thursday April 27th.

Originally conceived in 2004 Wings + Horns have gained international acclaim by combining influence from their Canadian heritage with Japanese sensibilities resulting in one of the most authentic and credible brands in contemporary menswear today.

Inspired by the enduring concept of clothing as a second skin, the adidas Originals by Wings + Horns collaboration reworks both brands' iconic design language to create a classic sportswear collection that blends traditional tailoring, contemporary fabrics and progressive design. We see understated design elements combined with an immaculate attention to detail throughout the offerings, most definitely an essential addition to anyone who wants to elevate their low-key Summer wear.

Alongside a slew of clothing we also see the adidas Originals by Wings + Horns collection offer some choice footwear styles. The archive classic Campus silhouette gets a premium update with a one piece leather upper and embroidered 3 stripe branding. The silhouette is completed in two tonal colourways of 'Night Navy' and 'Shift Grey'.

The adidas NMD_R2 silhouette is the second silhouette to get the Wings + Horns treatment with some of the most interesting styling to date, we see the one piece leather upper carry over form the Campus onto the contemporary R2 runner in 'Ash', a clean alternative to the much loved Primeknit fabrication that is utilised beautifully on the 'Hint' colourway. The R2_PK features a subtle camo-esque knit with the exposed seam detailing and hits of embroidery that run throughout the collection.

The adidas Originals by Wings + Horns collaboration collection will launch with us in-store from 10am and online from midnight this Thursday April 27th.

  • adidas Originals X SPEZIAL Spring '17

Following on from the capsule collection that launched last week, we see the first full drop of clothing and footwear from the adidas Originals X SPEZIAL line release for the Spring season tonight at midnight.

We see five styles pulled from adidas' extensive archive and updated for the new season, the usual slew of considered detailing is present throughout the collection with a mix of OG detailing and contemporary tweaks making this one of the strongest SPEZIAL collections to date. Take a look at the collection below alongside some inside knowledge, inspirations and sound advice quoted from SPEZIAL head honcho Gary Aspden...

Here we have the wonderful adidas Originals x SPEZIAL Jogger SPZL in this very "adidasy" Blue/Footwear White/Bluebird colourway. The Jogger SPZL is a real winner, an all round banger that needs to be in your weekly rotation, if you need another excuse then take the words of adidas' resident archive raider Gary Aspden - "A shoe this important just had to be done - always loved that tongue"

Just like the debut version of the Atlanta, these shoes combine proud city colours with details inspired by the original '83 running style. Some inside knowledge from Gary is that "if you planning to wear these shoes then probably best not to wear white socks with them. We did say that we have done everything possible to get them true to the OG. Getting the authentic colour/materials was a huge challenge as like the OG shoe that red is prone to bleed/migration. The main difference is that in the 80s they didn't carry a warning".

Unfathomable amounts of time and care go into each and every SPEZIAL style, with the Trainer being no exception. According to Gary "We have refined this 90s classic with an overhauling that includes a shorter toebox, different finish on the chalk white foxing, higher quality leather and suede, new tongue branding, Spezial footbed and bottle green stripes". The adidas Originals x SPEZIAL Trainer SPZL is one of our favourite styles to come through, that textured midsole, heel tab and serrated toe panel overlay is perfection.

The Wensley SPZL is "Inspired by a little known Russian shoe (its name translates as the 'Rapier') the shoe has an asymmetric pattern and retains many of the original details (e.g. no padding in the tongue)" according to Mr Aspden. We see a nylon upper with premium suede overlays delivering that classic adidas look. A soft leather lining adds comfort whilst we see serrated leather 3-Stripe side branding coupled with a gum coloured rubber outsole for durability.

    adidas Originals X SPEZIAL

If you're curious as to the inspiration of this silhouette "These shoes borrow classic details from the AS700 shoe and refresh them with a new colourway and embossed pattern on the tongue. The overall shape is slightly modified and features a suede upper and moulded tongue".

We see a concise 7-piece collection of clothing release alongside the SPEZIAL footwear which turns its attention to the parallels between British casual culture and Jamaican reggae culture. Cordura fabrications, utility pockets and flocked graphics elevate the collection far above your standard casual gear.

Here we have the adidas Originals x SPEZIAL Terrasse T-Shirt in this Off White colourway, the French graphic is inspired by a vintage in-store display, featuring a bit of wordplay with the word "terrace". The SPEZIAL Terrasse T-Shirt is constructed from cotton jersey with a soft handfeel, it's finished with a Spezial box logo label on the sleeve.

No summer time SPEZIAL collection is complete without a graphic tee, here we see football-inspired graphics executed in reggae colours. The SPEZIAL Mod Trefoil T-Shirt is constructed from a soft single jersey and accented with a Spezial box logo label on the sleeve.

Inspired by a vintage football jersey from French team FC Nantes, the jersey boasts flock-print graphics on the front and back whilst we see adidas' signature Climalite® fabrication utilised for a dry, comfortable feel.

An update on the classic Standard Training clothing series that debuted in the late '70s, this contemporary SPEZIAL update has climastorm tooling for protection from the elements and an open back panel for ventilation, a two-way metallic zip and a front utility pocket.

This banger is constructed from CORDURA®, a technical material often favoured for military gear because of its durability and weather resistance. Multiple cargo pockets provide a utilitarian aesthetic. Probably the best bit about this jacket is the badges and branding are detachable/ interchangeable!

The SPEZIAL Horwich Track Jacket draws inspiration from the beloved Beckenbauer track suit, an adidas classic. Made from a premium chambray fabrication, the SPEZIAL Horwich Track Jacket features two zip closure front pockets alongside a snap closure utility pocket, a two-way metallic full front zip closure, elasticated cuffs and of course the Spezial branded logo on the right breast finishes this beauty.

The SPEZIAL Horwich Track Pant draws inspiration from the beloved Beckenbauer track suit, an adidas classic. Constructed from a chambray material, the SPEZIAL Horwich Track Pant features zip closure pockets at the front and back, an elastic waistband and a button closure fly. These casual essentials are finished with a Spezial box logo label stands out below the lower right front pocket.

The Spezial Chambray Short is executed in a premium chambray fabrication. A slew of considered detailing features throughout including the Stitched 3-Stripes details accent the back flap pockets, rear elastic waistband and of course the Spezial box logo label on the leg.

The adidas Originals X SPEZIAL Spring '17 collection launches with us tonight at midnight.

  • adidas Originals EQT - 'Only the Essentials' Documentary.

Today we have been blessed with the adidas Originals EQT 'Only the Essentials' Documentary.

It's been a while since our last post (you guys kept us crazily busy over Christmas) but we are more than happy that our first post of the year is the newest video offering from none other than adidas Originals.

Clocking in at just over four minutes 'Only the Essentials' is a short but more than sweet insight into the background, evolution and enduring legacy of the brand’s iconic Equipment series. The adidas Originals EQT line has managed to conquer the loyalty of a whole new generation that wasn't around upon its initial conception in the early 90's, a feat that is undeniably impressive for any brand.

The adidas EQT line began in the early 90's, a time when the now sportswear giants were on the back-foot and needed innovation. From an imperative need to find new direction, to an oversaturation of style over substance in the performance footwear industry the adidas Equipment line was born. The EQT achieved exponential success due to its non-contrived ethos of "everything that is essential, nothing that is not", just pure and simple beautiful functional footwear - Something that still rings true over two decades later.

Of course it is 2017 and technologies have evolved and progressed in the footwear industry, yet it is always adidas Originals that manage to keep the balance of past and future. The brand stays true to their roots and original missions statements whilst pushing the boundaries of fabrications and constructions, updating archival silhouettes just the right amount to keep things exciting but maintaining the spirit of the original.

The documentary itself is an honest nostalgia dipped film that conjures up an immense feeling of admiration for what the adidas EQT line achieved, the braveness of the project and the insight the brand had on the market at the time - if 'Only the Essentials' doesn't make you fall in love with the adidas EQT line then nothing will.

Watch the adidas Originals EQT 'Only the Essentials' Documentary in full below and shop our adidas Originals EQT offerings here.

  • adidas SEEULATER OG Reissue

The adidas SEEULATER OG releases online tonight at midnight.

In true adidas style we see another exciting silhouette reborn from the depths of their archive; the SEEULATER.

Originally conceived in everyone's favourite era the adidas SEEULATER made its debut in the mid-90's and gained a cult following. As other styles have proven, its the more out-there silhouettes that tend to gain a cult following and really resonate with the consumer and the adidas SEEULATER most certainly falls into this category.

    adidas SEEULATER

As you can probably tell, the adidas SEEULATER was introduced as a hiking shoe with a focus on creating something durable, comfy and practical - all of which translate quite perfectly to the needs of the modern day commuting sneaker head. We see a woven mesh upper deliver all the comfort you need with a snug ribbed cuff to prevent any un-invited creatures that try to find sanctuary on your insole, if you tend to avoid forest hikes then the cuff is still a handy little touch of comfort on those cold winter mornings paired with a nice thick pair of Anonymousism socks.

    adidas SEEULATER

    adidas SEEULATER

A slew of other practical details feature with round laces and a traditional hiking styled lacing support panel, side classic adidas logo embroidery, rear heel pull tab and a cleat-esque outsole that will have you ready to conquer any terrain with ease.

The adidas SEEULATER stays true to its OG colourway for the release with a one-to-one reissue launching online tonight at midnight and in-store form 11am tomorrow.

  • Quartersnacks for Nike SB

The Quartersnacks X Nike SB capsule releases this Thursday 13th October at 8am.

Technically speaking skateboarding has always been about progression, following a fairly formulaic pattern. You take what's being done and add something to it, whether thats doing a trick over a bigger gap or down a longer rail or throwing a flip in/out.

This pattern does not lend itself to the true progression of skateboarding though, I mean sure the wizardry of Street League 'best trick' contests are worlds apart from Hokus Pokus in terms of technical ability but does this mean that it is better? To many it most definitely does not.

    Quartersnacks
    (Matt Hensley in 1989)

Around 2009 I was 16, and the videos we would all watch were the classic big company releases, Fully Flared had come out a few years prior and fuelled the move towards a higher production value in skate board videos being deemed 'the best'. It is at this time I watched my first independently made skateboard video from outside of England entitled 'Rich Mahogany' by Rob Harris, I had seen some videos on youtube of course but this was the first time I'd sat down and watched a physical DVD copy of an independent film from overseas.

Like many people Rich Mahogany is still one of my favourite videos to date, the skating was incredible of course but it was the random clips of the crew hanging out or skating some un-perfect spot that wasn't a marble 16 which made this video hit home. It was a bunch of guys that you could totally relate to doing the same kind of stuff you were doing and it was this relatability that made it so enjoyable to watch, foremost it made you want to skate.

    Quartersnacks
    (Rich Mahogany era Yaje Popson)

After watching the video a quick google search led me to a website called Quartersnacks, a blog type site that dominated 80% of my internet browsing in the following months. The voice of QS was that of an average skateboarder, they were talking about normal stuff, they had a cartoon teacher shouting at a kid in a scenario we had all been through, but most importantly they had everything you wanted to watch/read about NYC in one place.

    (#life)

Fast forward 7 years and New York is most definitely at the forefront of enjoyable content in current skateboarding, a whole slew of crews have managed to extend their blog/videos into a physical line; Bronze, 917, Alltimers, Hotel Blue etc. This is purely down to their popularity amongst skateboarders from over the globe who were, like me, very bored of the robotic hammers the West Coast was producing.

Quartersnacks have gone from strength to strength initially releasing a Dunk Low with Nike SB in 2014 and around this time last year we saw the crew compile their whole story into a book entitled 'TF at 1: 10 Years of Quartersnacks'. We sold out of the book in a day or two which is an impressive feat for anyone who knows how cheap skateboards really are.

    Quartersnacks
(TF at 1: 10 Years of Quartersnacks)

This Thursday we see the east coast bloggers team up again with Nike SB for a small but extremely tight collection utilising a very on-trend colour scheme of Pink and Birch which adorns a jacket, T-shirt and a pair of hairy suede Bruin Hyperfeel's.

A contrast heel underlay features alongside webbed Stripes and a reflective heel arch with a clean mostly neutral make-up and zingy hits of red on the side stripes, midsole and heel. the Harwood SPZL perfectly replicates the OG down to the very last detail.

    adidas Spezial

Gary Aspeden and the adidas team congure up a brand new original adidas Spezial silhouette for the winter season. The adidas Bulhill SPZL borrows design cues from the adidas Rimini such as the lacing panel construction and one-piece base layer on the upper which is fused with a sole unit from the infamous Hawaii silhouette. The Bulhill SPZL is a welcome new addition to the Three Stripes roster, a smart silhouette ingrained with true adidas DNA.

    adidas Spezial

Surely one of the finest renditions for the adidas Spezial line, the Manchester returns greater than ever! A certain psychedelic lo-fi approach is taken for the graphics with fuzzy slogans and trippy 3D logo’s adorning the back of the tees, the “Show Me Your Love” graphic is especially good which had all the staff in our store fighting for who gets it.

    Carhartt X NTS

  • Product Focus - adidas Originals Stan Smith 999 '24 Karat'

Today we kick off our Product Focus feature with this months most luxurious release, the adidas Originals Stan Smith 999 '24 Karat' silhouette.

This slick update on a summertime classic is the product of a collaboration with the oldest and most renowned German gold-beating manufacturer 'Eytzinger', a company based in the "Gold Leave" town of Schwabach - each pair features 167 years of craftsmanship experience and excellence.

The extravagant update extends far beyond the 24 karat gold leaf detailing on the tongue and heel moustache of the adidas Originals Stan Smith 999 '24 Karat' as the upper is kitted out with a premium super soft pebbled leather and comes in at a very reasonable £109.99 when you consider the caliber of the collaboration.

The real reason that these are one of our favourite releases this month is the near perfect execution, the midsole is crafted in a minimal clean white and the upper is just the perfect shade of grey to counter balance the metallic detailing that could very easily have been over-done and detracted from the sheer status of the release.

Check the images below for a closer look at the adidas Originals Stan Smith 999 '24 Karat' silhouette and head over to our online page if you're feeling a little frivolous today.

  • adidas Originals NMD Blackout/Whiteout pack

The adidas Originals NMD Blackout/Whiteout pack releases with us July 8th.

While drawing inspiration from archival styles is nothing new to the world of sneaker design adidas Originals really struck a chord when they introduced a modern classic - the NMD silhouette.

What the adidas Originals NMD range has done so much better than anyone else is evolve.

The initial release presented a sneaker that drew inspiration from the most progressive archival silhouettes that comprise their cutting-edge and influential back-catalog and infused their DNA with adidas' modern day BOOST and Primeknit technology, offering something that was top of the league in terms of technology but also had a distinct aesthetic that oozed classic adidas nostalgia.

Where most brands would stop there, adidas Originals continued to evolve the NMD with the introudction of the 'City Sock' and 'Chukka' silhouettes that maintained elements of the original release but took it in aesthetic directions that essentially ensured there was an NMD style for everyone.

On July 8th we see the newest addition to the adidas Originals NMD catalogue with the monochromatic 'Blackout/Whiteout' pack - a Crisp, concise and true to form release.

Comprising both the NMD Runner and NMD City Sock silhouette, each shoe in the release features a cleanly executed black or white colour palette with multi-lingual printed details throughout.

Signature details such as the NMD Runner’s TPU heel unit, the NMD City Sock’s panel tape and the NMD’s signature EVA plug inserts are rendered in tonal colours, finished with the shoe’s essential BOOST sole unit.

The adidas Originals NMD Blackout/Whiteout pack releases July 8th online.
