adidas

adidas was founded in 1924 by two German brothers Adi and Rudolf Dassler. Originally under the name of ‘Dassler Shoes’ fame was soon found when athletes were seen wearing the brand in the Olympics and other athletic events. In 1948 Rudolf Dassler left his brother to start his company ‘Puma’ which lead to the name being changed to ‘adidas’ and the Three Stripes logo was born. Created to keep the foot stable, the Three Stripes developed from a practical technological detail into the logo we see today. Step forward and the adidas name can be seen through art, music and street culture but its history still deep rooted in classic sporting styles, practicality and technical innovation.
