Lightning Bolt

Born in the summer of 1971, Lightning Bolt was created by surfers Gerry Lopez and Jack Shipley. Lightning Bolt represents surfing as a way of life, not just a sport and that today is as true as ever. There are many rumours about the origin of the Lightning Bolt Logo and what it means but some say the logo comes from a particularly strong strain on marijuana circulating the Hawaiian Islands in the years just before the brand emerged, but the company’s co-founder Gerry Lopez denies this “IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE ENERGY”. Lightning Bolt has always been about innovation in its purest form and the brands collection reflects this both in and out of the water.
