Vancouver based skater, Una Farrar is always pushing style and creativity as you can witness in her latest collaboration with Dime and Vans. This has propelled her to the forefront of modern skate culture, securing her place with brands like Vans, Dime, and Krooked Skateboards. Now, Vans and Dime have come together to celebrate Una’s influence as a skater and artist with a custom take on the Vans Mixxa. This sneaker combines the chunky upper and cupsole construction of classic ‘00s skate silhouettes with the latest Vans footwear innovation.
Una pushes the limits in pursuit of progression with an adventurous, adaptable, and nuanced skate style, key touchpoints referenced on her special makeup of the Mixxa. An all-black colorway accented by a classic gum sole makes for a style that can be worn as a “daily driver,” with closer inspection revealing a swath of unique details, courtesy of Una herself and Dime. The collar and midfoot feature a wavy, warped iteration of Vans classic checkerboard pattern, while Una designed a custom clover hit on the lateral forefoot overlay to nod to her Irish roots (and to bring a little extra luck to the wearer, of course). Other details include a Dime wordmark on the heel and co-branded blue insoles that combine another Dime hit with more of Una’s drawings. The overall aesthetic is finalized by period-correct ‘00s details like thick tongues, fat laces, super-sized heel tabs and a mix of materials on the upper, from suede to mesh.
