Founded in 1971 in New Haven, Connecticut by David Beckman. Originally his aim was to manufacture uniforms for school athletics but by 1976 the company began producing replicas of sports league teams apparel for the mass market. Starter initially created a line of ‘Starter Jackets’ these jackets featured many major league baseball teams logos. In the early 1990’s Starter’s success had grown to the big screen, the likes of Will Smith in ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ and Seinfeld were seen to be endorsing the brand. In the recent years Starter has had a huge resurgence following the popularity of the snapback, now offering a huge line of hats and apparel true to their original series of products.
