Clarks is a true British original, with the Clarks head office still based in the Somerset village of Street where it all began way back in 1825, when James Clark had a brainwave and created the original Clarks product the Clarks 'Brown Petersburg' sheepskin slipper out of off-cuts and cast-offs reclaimed from his brother's tannery where James worked.
